Pet Owners Code of Practice

Pet owners are being encouraged to comply to a new pet owners code of practice which includes making provisions for providing entertainment, mental stimulation and suitable toilet facilities.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have produced a 26 page document on cat welfare alone and are informing pet owners that it is thir responsibility to fully comprehen the code.

Advice is given on suitable toys and providing mental stimulation, it also warns of the impact close encounters with other cats can have, and that dogs need company of people, dogs or other animals.
