That’s a classic line from that cheese-fest of a film, Top Gun. Yes, we hold our hands up and admit we watched the Tom Cruise classic again the other evening (not our choice, you understand, but the girlfriend insisted).

Anyway, it got us thinking about silly high adrenaline extreme sports type things we could try and having driven sports cars, flown in an aerobatics plane and done a bungee jump, we reckon our next ‘need for speed’ outing might just have to be a Zapcat experience.

Zapcats are a pretty new phenomenon, being first seen on the water sports scene during the 1980s in South Africa, where the prototypes were being raced by fearless locals. Since then, Zapcats have been re-designed and re-developed to be the nifty little inflatable catamarans they are today with a 50hp engine that is capable of a maximum speed of 50mph on the water.

Not for the fainthearted then these Zapcats, but if, like us, you love the feeling of power and speed, we suggest you book yourself onto a Zapcat experience to see for yourself – you can actually have a go at driving these mini wave munching Zapcats when you book through this zapcat experience website we found.

Be careful which experience you go for though, as some are Zapcat rides, whilst on others you actually get to have a go at driving the boat yourself, so depending on how brave you’ll think you’ll be, you can choose accordingly!

Safety article prepared for Intotheblue customers who wish to participate in clay pigeon shooting at one of the many shooting venues around the UK.

Ensuring safety on a clay shoot should be one of the very first considerations, and should be given the maximum importance. By it’s very nature this sport involves guns, so safe handling of the gun and the use of protective equipment are the two most important elements to consider with respect to participants safety.

Here are a few key safety considerations:

All guns must be licensed in the UK. The police control the issue of a firearms certificate, to monitor who has access to weapons and to ensure only those considered fit to hold a license are issued one.

Drinking and using guns don’t mix, so you are advised not to have even one drink if you are shooting as it may impair your reactions.

To ensure safety on a clay shoot, never point a gun at anyone! You should always treat a gun as if it were loaded and this rule should be applied even if you believe the gun not loaded.

Don’t start to move your finger to the trigger until you are preparing to shoot.

Keeping ammunition separate from the gun will also increase the safety on a clay shoot. You should also be sure to never load the gun until you’re ready to use it.

An “exclusion zone” of at least 275 metres should be set up in front of the shooting stands and you should make sure this area that is free from any obstacles or people. The exclusion zone should be restricted from the general public and cannot be placed where there are public footpaths, right of ways, bridleways and in the vicinity of overhead power or telecommunication cables.

To further ensure safety on a clay shoot, you should also always wear appropriate safety clothing and use the correct safety equipment. Firstly, you need to use ear protectors or plugs to protect yourself from the noise of the guns while on the shoot (whether shooting or a bystander).

Secondly, you should use appropriate safety glasses. These will not only help you with shooting accurately by reducing glare, they will also protect your eyes from field debris, such as twigs or sticks; as well as offering protection from stray pieces of broken clay and even gun malfunctions.

Following a few simple guidelines and being careful with your gun protects everyone, and safety on a clay shoot is not difficult if you take care to adhere to these rules.

Having started out on the waters near where I live on a jet ski, this summer I’m looking at moving up a gear and getting a powerboat. Whilst researching on the internet, I found a website all about Zapcats. I’d never heard of Zapcats before, but they are incredibly speedy rigid inflatable racing boats, which offer all the thrills of a powerboat, but at a fraction of the cost.

The site I checked out offers you the chance to head out in a Zapcat either as passenger or you can actually have a go at driving these pocket rockets yourself, so I think this is exactly what I’m going to do as soon as the weather is better.

According to the product blurb, a Zapcat has a better power to weight ratio than a Ferrari, which explains the ferocious acceleration and speed. The low drag co-efficiency of a Zapcat means it’s five times more fuel efficient than a normal powerboat and the design lends itself to racing – cutting up the surf and rough seas with ease.

Seriously, I can’t wait to go out in a Zapcat on the open waters and see what they can do!

It was my birthday on Tuesday (21 again). Usually it’s the usual array of socks, a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate brazils, but this year the kids clubbed together to buy me a ‘have a go at falconry experience in the heart of Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. Step aside Robin Hood with your merry men; I’m heading into the glades with my raptor!

Joking aside, I’m really looking forward to going on this experience – the blurb with the voucher says that over the two to three hours I’ll actually get to handle the birds myself and fly one too.

I’m pretty sure the kids will want to come with me too, so when I called the activity gift voucher company to check, they told me I can take kids along for a fee of £25, as long as they are over the age of six. So it looks like we’ll be having a boys’ day out in the Nottinghamshire countryside meeting the likes of Rocky the Barn Owl and Smirnoff the Snowy Owl.

Dropshipping or Drop Shipping is a technique used more and more by online retailers who don’t have bricks and morter outlets or storage space for keeping stock.

The product supplied by the retailer is often delivered direct to the customer from the manufacturer or distribution company, but the contract and all paper work is between the retailer and the customer.

Our top 10 tips for dropshipping are,

A reliable manufacturer / distributor

An effecient and reliable delivery service

A sensible agreement with manufacturer / distributor regards returns

Full manufacturers warranties are transferred to customer and product liability insurance is in place and apply to the retailer and manufacturere / distributor

A good relationship and understanding with manufacturer and the assurance that they won’t try to sell direct and cut you out of the equation

An easily delivered, niche product with high mark up

A reliable product which is easily described, uncomplicated, and unlikely to result in too many returns.

The option to have customised paperwork and unmarked packaging sent to the end customer

Nice credit facilty with supplier which stops cashflow problems occuring as you can then receive payment for products before you have to pay for them

Full understnding of distance selling regulations and water tight terms and conditions

The best dropshipping relationships are with sensible manufacturers / distributors who understand that they do what they do best; import, store, distribute and you do what you do best; market, sell. They don’t try to be smart and cut the marketer/retailer out of the deal but are happy working together.

This recent cold snap has bought back memories of our old cat, Button.

She was always an outside sort of cat, but at this time of the year would often hide herself away somewhere at nigh time so as to avoid getting put out.

The problem with that was, she would then wake us up at 4 in the morning wanting to be let out.

So as not to have to wait to let her back in, I put an old blanket in a cardboard box in the shed and covered it over with a load of old cardboard boxes so that she would then spend the rest of the night in there.

I’ve always had pets for as long as I can remember, the first one being Jimmy a black and white cat who apparently just strolled in to my parents sitting rom one evening. other pets have been hamsters, rabbits, numerous goldfish, a dog, and 4 other cats.

Looking back now I can’t remember having Pet Memorials for any of them, but if anything happens to the 2 we have now I’m pretty sure we will get a nice stone pet memorial or possible a Slate Pet Memorial Plaque like the one below.
